Cloud ambition. A design delivery bottleneck.

Auxo wanted to modernise its workshop management product for the cloud. Ageing technology, inconsistent interaction patterns and limited internal UX capability constrained delivery.

Across a two-year engagement, I worked as fractional Product and UX Lead, connecting strategic direction to hands-on product design and coaching the internal designer.

Before: the legacy job board.
Original Auxo booking availability calendar showing technician capacity and available time across the week

A shared experience across workshop tasks

The booking flow connects customer and vehicle context with workshop availability. The calendar panel shown here keeps capacity visible while staff choose a suitable booking slot.

Consistent navigation, forms and workflow states carried that shared approach across the cloud product.

Find the friction before designing the cloud experience

Journey mapping connected booking, scheduling, workboard and job management. The workshop notes exposed different starting points: some staff enter customer and vehicle details first; others begin with the calendar.

I mapped these paths before detailed UI design, connecting the product structure to the ways workshops organise their day.

Redesigned Auxo cloud job board with consistent job cards and a visible action bar

From crowded screens to clearer priorities

The redesigned cloud job board shown here gives job cards a consistent structure and brings the available actions into a visible action bar. Staff can scan status and find the next action without losing the operational detail.

The legacy job board in the brief shows the starting point. End-to-end tasks and user flows established the new structure before detailed UI design.

Key decision: context before detail

The legacy job view spread context across tabs and form sections. I brought customer, vehicle and booking information together and used expandable detail to preserve depth without giving every field equal prominence.

This design response addressed the hierarchy problem rather than simply reducing the number of fields.

Ready for delivery and handover

Shared components, design sprints and early reviews kept work ready for development. Coaching helped the internal designer continue that approach.

The cloud vehicle view shown here applies shared patterns to ownership, readings and reminders. The MVP launched on time and within budget, with more than 100 users beyond beta.
